Early Closing for Snow

While most of the snow that fell in Austin has already turned to slush or completely melted, many state and local agencies are either closing early. Full list after the jump.

City of Austin
– Offices will close at 3pm. All non-essential staff will be sent home.
– Winter Weather Shelter Plan for the Homeless has been activated. If you know any homeless people, tell them to head to the ARCH on E. Seventh.
– Public golf courses and tennis centers, plus the Balcones, Dick Nichols and Stacy pools, are closed
– Parks and Recreation, Planning Commission, and City Services Open House for Springwoods Municipality Utility District meetings scheduled for tonight postponed.

Travis County
– Offices will close at 3pm. All non-essential staff will be sent home.
– Polling places will close at 3pm and re-open tomorrow at 9.30am. County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said she will be monitoring the weather to see if a later opening or further closures are necessary.

State
– Most state offices are closing at 3pm.

School Districts
– Austin ISD: No early release, and the schools are expected to open normally tomorrow.
– Eanes ISD: Staggered early release (Elementary schools and the Child Development Center one hour and 20 minutes early, middle schools at 2:30pm and Westlake High School at 3pm.) Activities after 6pm canceled. All schools will open two hours later than normal tomorrow.
– Lago Vista ISD: Schools closed at 12pm. School to start at 10am tomorrow, with buses running two hours later than normal.

Colleges
– No word of any closures at UT Austin, Huston-Tillotson, St. Edwards or Concordia. – Southwestern University in Georgetown closes at 3pm and will re-open at 10am.
