Jones Ahead in Third Court Race

With just 16% of precincts reporting, Dem candidate for chief justice of the 3rd Court of Appeals Woodie Jones is cautiously optimistic about his chances of getting back onto the appellate court he left in 2000. So far, Jones is pulling in 57% of the vote, but he's still wary -- most of the vote total has been early ballots, so he's got a way to go.

That said, Jones racked up nearly 100,000 early votes in Travis Co., a stunning early vote total. "That's enormous, and that's just the early vote," he said from his party corner at the way-too-packed Driskill Hotel. "But I'm not ready to call anything."
