Doherty Launches Offensive on McCaul
Democratic challenger to TX-10 incumbent

The fall election campaign has truly started – here come the ads and mailers!
Democrat Larry Joe Doherty says he has polling data showing that less than half of the voters in Congressional District 10 – that Tom DeLay-created monstrosity stretching from Austin to Houston – recognize the name of incumbent Republican Michael McCaul, so he's trying to educate them with a series of mailers. The first laid out in some detail McCaul's relationship with the now-disgraced DeLay, including the $10,000 that the former House Majority Leader's Americans for a Republican Majority PAC provided to kick-start McCaul's first campaign back in 2004.
The second notes that McCaul has received $107,000 from the oil industry, and that he's cast several votes just in the past year in the interest of "Big Oil."

In other TX-10 news, the race was just added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's "Emerging Races" list. While the listing doesn't mean Doherty's getting any funds from the DCCC, it does mean the group will spotlight his candidacy and possibly send donors his direction.
