Perry: Third Full Term's the Charm

Perry to run again in 2010, Democrats and Hutchison respond

Gov. Perry: Likes the downtown life, seemingly
Gov. Perry: Likes the downtown life, seemingly

So Gov. Rick Perry has decided he likes the governor's mansion so much, he'd really like another four years there. He's announced that he'll be running again in 2010.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Boyd Richie has already come out swinging, saying that Perry wants to be "Governor for life, but in 2006, a 61% majority of Texans already said they want someone else" (sadly for Richie, that someone else wasn't failed Democratic candidate Chris Bell.)

So what does that mean for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, long been considered 'most likely to try to be Perry's replacement, whether he likes it or not.' She said she has been "encouraged by people asking me to come home and run for governor," but that she still think it's "too early" to make a decision, because she's still too busy working for her constituents this session. You know, because keeping up a 0% voting record with the League of Conservation Voters, being profoundly anti-choice, and backing Voter-ID bills takes a lot of time.
