D.A. Race Round Two: Lehmberg vs. Montford

No, I wasn't stuck at a precinct caucus, just stuck gabbing with lawyers. Yup: Lots and lots of lawyers. Not surprising, since it is the lawyers that actually run for judicial seats and prosecutor posts. So, there you go. That's where I was. And, my colleague Lee Nichols is right: the four-way race for Travis Co. District Attorney will go into overtime, with a runoff – not at all a surprising turn of events.

Indeed, with four candidates in the Dem primary race (no Republicans entered the game) it was a practically inevitable turn of events. Unless one or two of the contenders had been complete no-vote-getting duds, it was bound to come to this. And that is actually the beauty of this race: Voters in Austin have truly been blessed with a strong field of interesting candidates, with not a loser among 'em. Of course, some are stronger than others, and so, thus and hence, here were are, facing an extended race with the two top vote-getters, Rosemary Lehmberg and Mindy Montford. Both are interesting and dynamic candidates with a lot to offer. Get ready for one more month of serious stumping.
