Student Government and University Democrats Co-Host President Clinton’s Visit to the Main Mall to Speak to Students

AUSTIN, TEXAS— Student Government and University Democrats at The University of Texas at Austin will sponsor a speaking engagement by former President Bill Clinton on campus, Wednesday, February 27.

The public is invited to hear President Clinton speak on the Main Mall near the Tower of The University of Texas at Austin campus. Viewing areas for the public will open at 5:30 p.m.

William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton was the 42nd president of the United States, serving from 1993 to 2001. His last visit to The University of Texas at Austin campus was in 2006, where he provided the convocation address for the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.

“This is a great event for the students of The University of Texas at Austin to hear a former president of the United States,” said Andrew Solomon, student body president. “There’s not a more exciting place than a college campus in the middle of a campaign season. We’re really excited to be a part of this.”

Students, as well as the general public, are welcome to hear President Clinton speak during his visit. Admission is free and no ticket is required to attend. Attendants are asked to limit bags and personal items for security reasons. The event will feature live entertainment before the president’s appearance.

This event is not an endorsement for Hillary Clinton for President by either Student Government or the University Democrats, but merely a chance for The University of Texas at Austin community to hear a former president of the United States speak.
UPDATE: Just prior to the event, he'll make an appearance at an early vote event at Austin Community College's Riverside Campus, 3pm on the Riverside Golf Course, 1020 Grove Boulevard.
