Watch: Being Dead Opens a Freaky Burger Stand

“Underworld” video has us chewing with our mouths open

Ground beef spankings, fresh tomatoes crushed mercilessly underfoot, malformed patties squirted with mustard while still half-cooked: It’s precisely what we would expect from a woodland cheeseburger pop-up stand operated by Austin’s strange and silly art-pop duo Being Dead.

Cody Dosier & Juli Keller inspect a perfectly cooked cheeseburger in the video for “Underworld”

The new video for “Underworld,” a track from 2019 extended player Fame Money Death By Drive-By – which garnered a medium-rare four-star review and the penultimate slot on this scribe’s annual Top 100 Austin Albums of the Year list – serves up a double quarter-pounder of the hilarious chemistry between Juli Keller and Cody Dosier. The clip finds the multi-instrumentalists slanging their bizarre burgers to earpiece-wearing young professionals at a steep $100 until they tragically run out... .

Or do they?

The band offered us these “hot tips” to accompany the visual premiere of “Underworld”:

Investment Tip: “Don’t be afraid of the stock market. None of it is real. It’s just a social media app, you guys. Have fun with it.”
Hot Cooking Tip: “The grill is all for show. What you really need is a microwave, so you can really obliterate your weenies.”

Today’s lunch comes courtesy of by Keller and Riley Engemoen, with art direction from Shannon Wiedemeyer:
