Songs for the Stoned
Hip-hop and psych rock 4/20 playlists

It doesn’t have to be April 20 to enjoy these joints either dedicated to marijuana or that just sound really good while you’re high – but it seems as good a reason as any.
In 1967, the Doors were banned from The Ed Sullivan Show for not changing the lyrics of “Light My Fire” from, “Girl, we couldn’t get much higher” to, “Girl, we couldn’t get much better.” Scandalous. As Bob Dylan sang to Oscar-winning effect, things have changed.
With legal weed legislation spreading across the nation and everyone from Miley Cyrus to 2 Chainz extolling its virtues, marijuana is more mainstream than ever. Still, who cares about all that? We really just want to sit back, load a bowl, and enjoy some highly addictive jams.
Which brings us to our 4/20 playlists. “Blunted: Hip-Hop 4/20 Mix” features songs by MF Doom, Cypress Hill, Snoop, and many more directly referencing weed, while the “Songs for the Stoned: Psychedelic Rock 4/20 Mix” with Ween, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, and others is loaded with jams that sound amazing after a blunt or two. Enjoy.
