Anastasia’s One of a Kind

Local femcee gets sexy in new video

Homegrown rapper/singer Anastasia released visuals for the lead, eponymous single from her recent EP, Born to Love You, a project she calls “a blend of clever lyrics and rich harmonies over 808-driven, trap-style beats.”

Capably shot by Austin filmmaker group New High Filmz, the video for the Thomas Crager-produced track guest stars Austin MC Lil Milez. Crager produced all five tracks on the new EP. Its mouthpiece, born Stacey Smith and formerly known as Anya, says the track represents a departure from her earlier, rap-centric releases.

“It’s meant to display a more vulnerable side of myself as an MC,” she says. “On this single, like the entire EP, I’m exploring topics like love, feminine power, and sexuality for the first time. The message is clear: ‘I’m one of a kind – recognize that!’”
