Guess the Fest

By Kevin Curtin, April 25, 2014, 4:57pm, Earache!

Let the divination begin. Fun Fun Fun Fest organizers Transmission Events today launched their annual Guess the Fest promotion, giving the public a chance to win festival passes and prize packs by accurately predicting what acts stack FFF9 at Auditorium Shores and Butler Park, November 7-9.

The fest, booked by Austin live music lynchpin Graham Williams, typically includes upwards of 100 rock, hip-hop, metal, EDM, punk, and comedy acts playing on four stages.

The three most accurate participants receive prize packages, which, this year, include sweet bonuses like airfare, festival passes, and the opportunity to go up on the industrial scissor lift to capitalize on the epic selfie trend.

Which reunited Nineties hardcore band will be excavated for an appearance? Will they book Big Freedia yet again? To try your hand at GTF, enter your best 20 guesses here.

Tips for the best guesses: check bands’ tour schedules for availability, look for artists who have a new release to promote, browse the schedules of other music festivals promoting similar genres. Keep in mind acts that have a booking relationship with Transmission Events and play Mohawk.

Festival co-founder James Moody only offered one clue in prognosticating the fall outing: “What I can say to help peoples guess is that there will be band(s) on this bill that haven’t played together in many moons.”

The Birthday Party? Hellhammer? N.W.A.? Your guess is better than mine.
