Don't even bother pretending to hide your excitement: Run-D.M.C. are re-uniting to play Fun Fun Fun Fest.
If you're young and dumb enough to not know who these kings of rock and the pioneers of rap are, then just know this: Every rapper you listen to today has taken something – their style, their sound, their flow – from Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels. Yeah, before the Reverend Run was an MTV reality show star, he was half of one of the most important rap groups ever. Along with the late, great Jam Master Jay, aka the sadly departed Jason Mizell, they broke down the walls between rap and rock (literally, when they retooled Aerosmith's Walk This Way.)
It's been ten years since the Hollis, NY innovators pulled on their unlaced Adidas. You can bet your ass we're going to be there.
Fun Fun Fun promises the rest of the lineup will be announced Thursday morning, so we'll be sitting by our email, waiting for that all to drop. Get yer credit cards out, too, because that's when the rest of the tickets will go on sale. With over 100 bands still to be announced (plus a taco cannon!) and Run-D.M.C. already confirmed, they may go a leeetle fast.
Here's the leaked line-up so far
