Jack Ingram & Hayes Carll sing for Grounded in Music

If the names Jack Ingram and Grounded In Music sound familiar, it’s because the 2012 Benefit Concert at Gibson Guitar Showroom on Wed., Feb. 15, is the second time the two have associated for the cause. This year, he’ll be joined by Hayes Carll, with Savannah Berry and Grounded in Music students.

The show will raise funds for the Grounded in Music music education series, a signature program of the Boys and Girls Club of Austin, with whom GIM has been associated four years. GIM teaches kids a variety of musicianship skills, from writing lyrics to playing instruments and exploring various aspects of the music industry.

In 2010, Ingram, the 2008 Academy of Country Music’s “Best New Male Artist,” and Patty Griffin appeared at the South Austin studio, promoting a Paramount Theatre concert they were playing together. Both were very polite to the press, responding to questions affably, yet it was clear Ingram was quite moved by the results he was seeing and less interested in talking about the organization than simply making more good happen for it.

That makes Joe Stallone, Grounded in Music’s founder, a happy man.

“Grounded in Music has a very simple mission: to leverage the power of music to transform young lives by creating self-confidence, opportunity, and hope. These kids are learning that they can do anything they set their mind to and developing the confidence to push themselves to achieve things they never thought they could.”

Prior to the show will be a sponsor reception for pre-party ticket holders, with an additional after-party with Jack Ingram and Hayes Carll held for event sponsors. General admission tickets are $35 and $50 and can be purchased online. Proceeds will be used to purchase musical instruments for GIM’s under-privileged youth, provide education in musicianship, teach music theory, as well as offer music-related opportunities outside of performance.
