KRS-One and Alex Jones trade theories
By Thomas Fawcett, 5:33PM, Tue. Jan. 27, 2009
KRS-One came through Mohawk Saturday and mesmerized the crowd like few other MCs can or ever could, dropping an endless parade of hip-hop classics and righteously preaching at the crowd about whatever happens to be on his mind. This night it was Obama (“The new world order just put on a black face”) and inciting chants of “9-11 was an inside job.” There’s a reason it sounds like the Blastmaster has been kicking it with local celebrity conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. The day before the Mohawk performance, KRS phoned in to Jones' show from Dallas. Here’s the audio from that unlikely alliance.
For video of KRS in action, check out the 54 Reality Show, courtesy of Killeen heavyweights Crew 54. The duo of Mos and G-Christ (he of the ever-present Bluetooth) are nice on the mic but they have the video blog game on lockdown. There aren’t many local hip-hop acts hustling harder than Crew 54 and, more importantly, their videos document the local hip-hop scene in unprecedented fashion. Nearly every local rapper of note has gotten screen time over the past year on the show and they’ve caught plenty of big name touring acts in their lens as well. Any band trying to make a name for themselves in the age of YouTube should be paying attention.
