Here's another in a weekly series of what we're reading. More than 20 years ago, I bought a $4.50 paperback copy of Isabel Allende's The House of Spirits at the original Borders Book Shop on State Street in Ann Arbor, Mich., before it went all chain-gang on us. I'm proud to say I knew Borders when it was just a wee little shop.

Good Monday morning, Texas. At 7am, if you are registered to vote, you may begin casting ballots on offices ranging from governor down to county offices, as well as some municipal decisions. Chief financial officer Randy Hume and Vice President of Engineering and Construction John Almond have resigned from Capital Metro at the request of new President/CEO Linda Watson. The resignations aren't too surprising, considering financial problems that occurred partly on Hume's watch and rail construction delays under Almond.
