Four Austin Chefs Champion the Texas Food & Wine Alliance with Off the Menu Supper Club

Richter & Czyszczon & Sawicki & Fojtasek stoke a live fire

The Texas Wine & Food Alliance admits they “took a significant hit” when their highly anticipated and much-heralded Live Fire! fundraiser was rained out back on April 6.

Four chefs to rule them all, in the land of Mabry, where the live fire burns

Yes, the local nonprofit, which relies on such events to fund critical programs like their Culinary Grants and the free Culinary Arts Career Conference for Texas high school students, missed out on a huge chunk of change when the unexpected deluge devastated that grilltastic spectacle at Campy Mabry.

But.

But this is Austin, see, where – regardless of the city’s rampant growth and growing economic polarity – there are still strong undercurrents of camaraderie and mutual support to be found in all the creative communities – not least among the crowd that creates its masterpieces in kitchens.

Thus have four of our town’s most acclaimed chefs banded together to introduce a new dining concept – the Off the Menu Supper Club – that brings the Lone Star State’s most dazzling culinary talent out of the restaurant to cook on open flame at unique locations across Texas.

This series will kick off at Camp Mabry on Thursday, June 8, 6:30-9pm, with a tribute to the classic American chophouse, featuring chefs Berty Richter (Ezov), Jakub Czyszczon (Garrison), Laura Sawicki (Oseyo), and Michael Fojtasek (Olamaie), with classic cocktails provided by Jessica Sanders of DrinkWell. And you’ll feast in luxury under the stars (this time, you know there’ll be no rain anywhere) while enjoying fine wines by Duckhorn Vineyards, DAOU, and Robert Mondavi – and spirits by Tito's Handmade Vodka and High West Distillery.

You want tickets ($175) to this inaugural Off the Menu Supper Club event, citizen, here’s where you can get them.

Note: You see the names of those live-fire wizards up there, though, and the fancy drinks that’ll accompany the food, right? And you know the Texas Food & Wine Alliance has a lot of hungry friends? So, word to the wise: Get those tickets as soon as you can!
