Java Noodles, an Indonesian/Chinese restaurant on Oltorf, is closed through the end of the year.
Owner Minh Chau has shuttered the East Riverside location, according to Tuyen Nguyen, an employee at Chau’s sister restaurant Me Con Bistro. Java Noodles is currently not answering its phones, and its online order system states that the restaurant is closed. A handwritten sign on the restaurant’s door states that it is closed for remodeling.
Nguyen told the Chronicle that she was unsure about the future of the East Riverside Java Noodles location. The eat-in and delivery spot was known for its popular Java Special, a stir fry veggie dish, as well as a menu of spicy soups that relieved the symptoms of colds and allergies. The old Java Noodles is closed for now and perhaps for good, but those hooked on its homemade Indonesian fare should stay tuned for what Chau is cooking up next.
