Buzz Mill to Host Dog and Owner Lookalike Contest

Pup-centric party (with free treats!) benefits Emancipet

Ever been walking on the Town Lake trail, minding your own business, when you notice that every dog and owner duo you pass look freakishly alike? On Saturday, July 27, there is a whole event dedicated to just that: Dogs Days of Summer, a dog and owner lookalike contest hosted by Buzz Mill and Good Party ATX.

The party at Buzz Mill (1505 Town Creek Dr.) goes 5-8pm and the competition (set to commence around 7pm) will be judged by local celebs from around town – including our very own Food Editor, Jessi Cape, CultureMap’s Brandon Watson, and Sarah Wolf from Emancipet and Good Party ATX. Winners are set to receive a mysterious “prize pack.” Entry is free, and the pregame festivities also include free Pupsicools – think popsicles, but with more venison – and free Zucchini Kill vegan dog treats (while they last) for your best friend.

If the pups take a liking to their bone broth pops, they can participate in a Pupsicools-eating contest at 6pm. Even the human-friendly fare benefits Austin’s canine community, with $1 from every Salty Dog, Oye can bucha, and Live Oak Big Bark cans donated to Emancipet, a low cost spay and neuter clinic. Dress your pupper to the nines (pageant-style highly encouraged), kick back to some canine jams courtesy of DJ M-Lee, and get ready to pounce – sorry, trounce – the competition.
