In Honor of 4/20 Some of Our Favorite Austin Purveyors of CBD

Marijuana remains illegal in Texas, but you can keep your chill

We may not be able to legally smoke weed in Texas (yet), but we figure you can partake in the closest corollary: cannabidiol, aka, CBD. It's definitely not the same, but it can still take the edge off if you're feeling prickly. Get in the spirit of 4/20 with these local restaurants and shops that are happy to help.

North by Northwest Brewing Co.

10010 N Capital of Texas Hwy

As part of a partnership with SunUp CBD, North by Northwest hosts a free event to sample their specialty CBD-infused drinks. Starting at 4:20pm (naturally), attendees can taste of Dank Sinatra, a New England IPA infused with watermelon-flavored CBD oil and topped with a classy watermelon Sour Patch Kid. NXNW will also have an assortment of “stoner food” like pizza rolls, candy bar brownies, and bar snacks. Bonus: NXNW rolled out their brand new menu today, and each dish has a beer/hop component. There's fried calamari with pickled cherry peppers and lemon hop aioli, and seared scallops with whipped sweet potato, hop & parsley gremolata, and parmesan crisp.

Flamingo Cantina

515 E. Sixth

The recently opened CBD bodega offers various hemp cannabidiol products from coffee and espresso drinks to hemp vapes and edibles. Flamingo Hemp says their products are all natural and contain less than .3% THC.

Wild Chix & Waffles

Various locations

Celebrate 4/20 with a little gin and juice, as Wild Chix rolls out its new range of sparkling CBD cocktails. Orange Dreamiscle with Deep Eddy Orange Vodka, Coco-Loco and Dirty Sprite are some of the offerings they’ll have this Saturday along with appearances by the founders of NoCo Chico and Deep Eddy.

Wheatsville Food Co-op

Various locations

Known as one of Austin’s largest CBD retailers, Wheatsville carries more than 80 CBD products. They have lotions, balms, tinctures, balms, and even PlusCBDoil to add to its made-to-order smoothies. Wheatsville partnered with local honey shop, Bee Delightful to sell its Cannabee’s Honey.

Independence Brewing Co.

3913 Todd Ln. #607

Dallas-based nonprofit 4DWN is teaming up with the local brewery company to put on a 4/20 skating event Pipes ‘N’ Pints. Drink a limited edition CBD-infused IPA and listen to live music while watching skate sessions by professional Texas skaters like Auby Taylor and Brad Simms. The event also includes a raffle to benefit 4DWN, as they raise money to create opportunities for underserved youth through skate parks and after-school and mentoring programs.

Green Herbal Care

5601 Brodie Ln #620

This CBD shop opened just in time for 4/20. Edibles, oils, beauty and pet products, and more make Green Herbal Care a one-stop shop for cannabidiol goods. They even have pain relieving bath bombs so you can majorly relax this weekend.

Blenders and Bowls

Various locations

This female-owned açai cafe (with five locations) adds a new ingredient to their Spring specials – you guessed it, CBD. Starting this weekend, Blenders and Bowls will introduce their CBD bowl to the menu, which also includes other additions like hummus toast and a Blue Majik smoothie.

Prohibition Creamery

1407 E. Seventh

CBD can be used in a lot of products: gummies, smoothies, bath bombs, and even ice cream. Prohibition Creamery is known for creating alcoholic dessert flavors like their Signature Bourbon and the Green Fairy (absinthe and cacao) but they also have a flavor, Afternoon Delight, that features CBD as a main ingredient.
