What was previously announced as Gatto Nero and Enoteca Gattino and briefly as Gemelli di Beyoncé (we made that last part up) now has a permanent name and full details.

Today New Waterloo – the folks behind the South Congress Hotel, La Condesa, and Sway – announced their latest concept, Il Brutto (literally "the ugly"), will be open in The Arnold development by summer 2017.

The expansive 5,000 sq. ft. Eastside restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner, and brunch, serving a classic menu of wood-fired pizza, house pasta, and antipasti. The beverage menu will highlight Italian wines, local beers, and a full cocktail program. It will be joined by a small corner sandwich shop focused on Italian sandwiches.

Local firm Clayton & Little are in charge of the design – featuring a custom wine fridge made in Round Rock, handcrafted tile made in Austin, and woods from San Antonio. The larger development will be home to C3 Presents, Front Gate Tickets, and the Austin office of Condé Nast.
