Piemakers step up to brick-and-mortar outlet

After three years of farmers' market booths and wholesale sales, the talented mother-daughter baking team of Kit Seay and Amanda Bates has found a permanent home for their Tiny Pies.

The Rosedale and Crestview neighborhoods were buzzing this week about the arrival of the new store in the ground floor of a Burnet Road space that was formerly home to Lucky J's Chicken & Waffles. The storefront is retail-only, with no dining space.

Using treasured family recipes, Kit and Amanda will stock the new store with an ever-changing selection of sweet and vegetarian savory pies, based on the availability of fresh, seasonal ingredients. For instance, this month's special flavor is strawberry basil.

For breakfast, check out the pop-tarts, quiche, empanadas, and galettes. Lunch and dinner specialties include vegetarian pot pies and an array of sweet pies – teeny, tiny pies, pie pops, Mason jar pies, and not-so-tiny pies. Variety-pack gift boxes will be available, and custom orders for specialty pies are encouraged.
