Redd Volkaert Headlines Opening Bash Saturday Night

Great live music in a comfortable new outdoor venue

The new Barton Springs Neighborhood Food Court (415 Jessie) has been serving customers for a few weeks now but musician and food truck entrepreneur Scott Angle hosts the grand opening bash Saturday, Aug.17. Angle and his band, the Cold Cold Hearts kick things off at 6pm and headliner Redd Volkaert take the stage at 8pm.

Angle took over an underdeveloped and unappealing food trailer lot earlier this year and invested lots of time, money, and energy in cleaning it up and adding the kind of amenities that would make both trailer vendors and hungry diners comfortable. Now the shady spot just off Barton Spring Road offers substantial picnic tables, tented bar seating, chairs around a cool weather fire pit, a small stage, and even a dance floor.

In addition to those attractions, Angle recruited an excellent food truck line-up: Honky Tonk Hot Dogs, Mister Fruit Cup, Wholly Kabob, Coat & Thai, Tommy Want Wingy, Way South Philly, and Southside Flying Pizza.

There's food here for every palate, the space is both family and dog friendly, and Angle plans to not only book regular life music but other fun things such as movie nights. Oh, and it's also BYOB, or you can grab something from the great drink selection at nearby Thom's Market, just around the corner.

"Austin's a unique place," says Redd Volkaert. "On any given night, in some of the most unpredictable places, great live music can be heard. What a great idea to combine two of Austin's loves - food trailers and live music - in one location. I'm looking forward to being part of BSNFC's debut."

Make your way down to near South Austin, get a bite to eat, and take a spin on that new dance floor!
