Another beer-n-bikes-centric weekend...

Perhaps this is becoming a pattern but I doubt it. If you felt that last weekend's motorized mayhem spoiled your lungs and your liver then may I introduce you to a bike that won't soil your lungs, it may in fact help your breathing. That's right, it's the good old fashioned bicycle! This weekend we are focusing on two of my favorite things in the whole world: bikes & beer.

First up, on Friday night (June 20) between 5pm and 7pm the Chrontourage will set up camp at Opal Divine's Penn Field on South Congress to bring you this month's On The Chron Happy Hour. That means if you come and chat with us we will buy you a domestic beer on the Chrontourage's tab. I love getting to know our readers and the people in the Austin community and what better way to do that than over a couple of frosty (and free) beer. After the first round that we get you you can continue to partake of Opal Divine's HUGE beer and whiskey selection and delight in some of their fine cooking.

On Saturday we will be helping out the Yellow Bike Project as they begin the massive task of transplanting their headquarters from the current location off of 51st Street before it gets demolished. The best part about this is that they are doing it all by bicycle! If you would like to be a part of this human-powered move check out their website (www.austinyellowbike.org) for details.

Finally, on Sunday beer and bikes converge for the Urban Assault Ride. This wild bike powered scavenger hunt is more of a party than a race. Competitors will bike around and perform different challenges at various check points throughout the city. Come out and cheer on the competitors, I will be one of them!

See you out... on a bike!
