We wrote about this Upper Echelon Femme sneaker eons back because, for some reason that was perfectly evident at the time, they reminded us of our favorite guerilla-grrl, M.I.A..
Well, the publicist sent us a pair to test run, to see if we felt like M.I.A. (and to see how sisters can do dirtier "shoewelry" for themselves, making Annie Lennox proud in the process). We felt a little like The Housewives of Austin, Texas, to be honest, but if anyone can make it street, it's my friend Cindy, who is wearing our test pair here:

Anyway, in the process of all of this workday fun, we learned that UES has teamed with Steve Madden to go beyond sneakers for a Fall '10 line. The press release promises high wedges and motorcycle boots. Hmph. Well, here is the "Chuck Buckle Wedge", which is a bit Patti LaBelle for us. High-heeled sneakers have been done. Okay? Tommy Tucker sang about them in 1964's "Hi-Heel Sneakers", and every decade sees a new take on Pointer Sisters cover art. Below the wedge, see the pair very similar to ones I owned, complete with white rubber toe-kick and Lakers colors. Basta!

We think the purple is more pimpin' on these, by the way.
