These Boots Weren't Made for Walking

Wish List: Fall Boots

Givenchy, $1500

Our heads spin with so many boot options this fall - high heels with low uppers, over the knee uppers on flats, lace-ups, open-toe ankle boots. And that just covers the weekends for some people this year. Judging from the varied leggy looks we've seen, a conservative estimate would call for six pairs to be adequately-heeled.

That's not counting knee-high equestrian boots. This is our wish list so far:

1) KORS Michael Kors' knee-high brown "Courtney", $395

2) Steve Madden's lace-up "boyfriend" boot (honestly, the term "boyfriend" has been so over-used by advertisers for everything from jackets to sweaters to jeans to now boots. There is probably not one usable piece in my husband's closet, much less an entire outfit.), $159

3) Minnetonka knee-high black lace-up moccasins, $75.95. These call for Missoni's cashmere/nylon legwarmers, $325.

4) Trusty Harness boots from Frye, $222

5) Christian Louboutin's black leather over the knee boot. Interestingly, in practice this boot is more utilitarian than fetished. They go with any short option you pull out of the closet. Check out Taylor Jacobson on Bravo's Rachel Zoe Project for the best example of them as daily drivers. There is only one pictured here because I can't afford them both at once. $1995

6) The Patron Saint of Fall Boots, with a twist. These put the Doc back in Dr. Martens. If you don't wake up at night to think about these boots, you're dead to me, $150.

This list should really be seven items, but I'm still looking for the perfect pair of blue suede ankle boots. And coveted pieces continue to stack up as we move up from the shoe department, so stay tuned and let us know if you have the same things on your list (it's no dirty secret, we all have a List). I think my wallet has gone into hiding in an old purse.
