Cool or … What?

When Sackaroos sent me a sample of their reusable bags-within-a-bag bags last spring, I couldn't decide if I liked it or not.

On one hand, its hempy-looking fabric seemed a little too granola. On the other, unlike most hippie-wear, it's crisp and smartly constructed rather than lumpy – a preternaturally tidy little shoulder bag that holds two neatly folded mesh grocery bags and has a front pocket for keys, checkbook, credit card, list, etc.

Then there's the fact that it's really quite useful. And that hidden design perks slowly out themselves: You can hang it saddlebag-like on your grocery cart to leave more space for groceries, for instance.

Of course, ultimately I had to face the reality that the most stylish thing I've ever hauled groceries around in is a matched set of stained SXSW swag bags. Who am I kidding? There are also far kickier designs and a variety of styles that Sackaroos (ahem) didn't send – but for me, almost anything is a vast improvement.

I doubt I'm the only canvas-bag slob out there. Let's face facts, people: We could all be a little more stylish when it comes to grub hauling. Sackaroos are a damn good place to start.
