Pillow Fight Saturday on the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge?

By Wayne Alan Brenner, April 5, 2013, 4:30pm, Chronolog

It totally seems like a thing to do, doesn't it? To be a riotous part of a pillow-fight in the middle of the ATX, right there above the waters of Lady Bird Lake on a Saturday afternoon?

Especially because, after this weekend, it'll likely be too goddamn hot to do anything like it until December rolls around again, y'know?

Pillowfights – especially outdoor pillowfights involving dozens and dozens of people – are best enjoyed in cooler weather, which is quickly eroding here in Austin as we segue toward those triple-digit days of summer.

Which is why we'll be heading to the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge at 1pm tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, April 6, yes) with pillow in hand, ready for some gentle bashing of friends, neighbors, and similarly armed strangers.

Of course, we realize that a lot of people have plans for later in the evening – maybe catching some live music somewhere, or a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, or checking out the art openings at grayDUCK Gallery or Wally Workman or Pump Project or the Russell Collection … or some new stage production – the Rude Mechs' Stop Hitting Yourself, say, or Earth and the Annie-Sprinkle-and-Beth-Stephens Ecosexual thing at the Vortex – or the multimedia of Raw Paw's Cymatic Release & CogDut Labyrinth at 50N House, or any number of such things available throughout what some call the 512.

["Yeah, dude, I totally live in the 512. But that's not my area code, okay? Don't judge, man, don't you fuckin' judge me."]

But, see, those things happen at night.
You could do this pillow-fight mob first.

You could give yourself an entire day's worth of the fun and art and weirdness that all those people in other states keep moving here to be a part of.

So, tomorrow.
In the afternoon.
After your coffee.
After a bowl of granola or your favorite breakfast tacos
at Tacodeli or Mi Madres or Tamale House or whatever.

You and all those other Austinites, on the bridge, cutting loose with pillows?

Give 'em hell, bubeleh.
