Fake It Till You Make It
Know-it-all John Hodgman tix on sale in morning
By Kimberley Jones, 3:54PM, Mon. Oct. 31, 2011
Since 2005, John Hodgman has dropped a lot of (totally fake) knowledge in books like The Areas of My Expertise and More Information Than You Require. He closes the "trilogy" with That Is All, on sale tomorrow. Also on sale tomorrow? Tickets to his upcoming BookPeople event.
Tickets costs $28 – which is not at all coincidentally the exact same cost as one copy of That Is All with tax – and thus entitles the bearer to one seat at the event, one copy of That Is All, and priority in the signing line. Tickets will be available in-store and over the phone (512/472-5050) starting tomorrow at 9am, but not online.
The Nov. 8 event also includes a mustache contest judged by Hodgman, and a special guest in the form of Neal Pollack, the once-and-again Austinite writer whose new novel, Jewball, just came out at the Amazon Kindle store and is also available print-on-demand (and, incidentally, was the answer to a recent QRANK question, and the knowing of said answer was what totally put me over the top, so, y'know, thanks, Neal!).
A note to readers: Bold and uncensored, The Austin Chronicle has been Austin’s independent news source for over 40 years, expressing the community’s political and environmental concerns and supporting its active cultural scene. Now more than ever, we need your support to continue supplying Austin with independent, free press. If real news is important to you, please consider making a donation of $5, $10 or whatever you can afford, to help keep our journalism on stands.
