Salon's Good Sex Awards taps Austin's James Hynes

The antidote to bad sex? Good sex, duh. And Austin author James Hynes has the good stuff.
We pretty much put our head in the sand on Valentine's Day, which is why we were slow on the take regarding Salon's first annual "Good Sex Awards." That's good sex in fiction, mind you, so don't go thinking Salon's gone all porny.
Bad sex in literature has long-been celebrated – the UK's Literary Review has notched that bedpost for 18 years running – but Salon, with refreshing positive thinking, sought to cheer on good sex for once. Top of the list? James Hynes' Next, which comes out in paperback in March. You can read the excerpt of "a steamy, erotic encounter on a farmhouse porch" here, but we'll give you a teaser:
They can't move much -- if she thrusts too hard against him she'll topple them into the bushes -- but the song has finished with words and now it's just a driving sax, and they rock together to the beat, her sweat dripping into the dress bunched at her waist, her hands kneading his back, his face pressed between her salty breasts, her heart thumping against his lips.
