2018 Texas Teen Book Festival Lineup

The Texas Teen Book Festival turns 10 in 2018, and this annual celebration of young adult lit is marking the milestone with another stellar lineup of YA writers, including New York Times bestselling author Marissa Meyer, debuting Archenemies, the second installment in her superhero series The Renegades Trilogy.

Joining Meyer at the Oct. 6 event will be three dozen more YA stars, among them A Monster Calls author Patrick Ness, whose new book And the Ocean Was Our Sky asks the question: What if Moby-Dick had been told by the whale?; David Levithan, the co-writer of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, who's soon to release Someday, the latest tale of A, who appeared in the books Every Day and Another Day; and the previously announced keynote speakers Nic Stone, who's about to release Odd One Out, the follow-up to her hit debut novel Dear Martin; and the father-son team of Neal Shusterman and Jarrod Shusterman, who collaborated on Dry, a novel about a catastrophic drought that hits suburbia.

Of course, there are the usual sessions and panels, including a panel on activism past and present that will feature authors Ebony Adams and Anita Sarkeesian, co-authors of History vs Women: The Defiant Lives That They Don't Want You to Know; Julissa Arce, author of the memoir Someone Like Me: How One Undocumented Girl Fought for Her American Dream; and Nadya Okamoto, author of Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement.

And don't forget that costumes aren't simply allowed; they're encouraged – and they can earn you prizes. TTBF is once again partnering with Epic Reads for the Third Annual Costume Contest. Dress as your favorite literary figure, classic or contemporary, from this world or some other, and you might take home literary prizes from Epic Reads, including brand-new books. There will also be the Epic Reads Photo Ops Booth, so you can capture yourself in your cosplay glory with a souvenir image.
