Comedian Raul Sanchez Is From Around These Here Parts

You think all this recent anti-immigrant shit is funny, you’re wrong.

You think Raul Sanchez is funny, you’re right.

And just who is this Sanchez? He’s an immigrant, for one thing. When he was 18 years old, he was serving in the U.S. military, sweating it out in Afghanistan. This week, he’s headlining Cap City Comedy Club. And $1 of every ticket purchased to see his show this weekend, $1 of every ticket will go to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.

But, OK, maybe you don’t care so much about the immigrant thing?

That is to say, sure, you care, you’re not some heartless nazi piece of shit … but it’s also important to you that this Sanchez guy is really funny, right?

Listen: In 2012, he won the Funniest in South Texas competition. In 2013, he won the Funniest Comic in Texas competition. He’s played clubs all over the country. He’s gone to the Great White North and laid ‘em in the aisles at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival. He’s got the cred.

"Insufficient data," you say, checking your Samsung Micro-Calibrated Stand-Up Comedy Qualitometer that totally synchs with Cerebro back at the mansion.

How about an endorsement? Will that do ya?

“Raul tells jokes effortlessly, like you're being let in on the most interesting conversation at the barbecue,” says Austin’s Carina Magyar, who knows a thing or two about comedy. “Just when you think he's going to say something too far, too mean, he finds the perfect twist and you love him all the more for it.”

And if you love yourself, citizen, reckon you could treat yourself to one of these Raul Sanchez nights at Cap City Comedy Club.
