Las Vegas has just passed an ordinance banning the feeding of poor people in the parks.

The original name for the avocado, "ahuacate," was too hard for Americans to pronounce. Worse, it's the Aztec word for "testicle." The avocado is a cultigen, a cultivated species domesticated so far back in history that its ancestry is unknown.
