There are people who purposely have one or more of their major limbs amputated through elective surgery. It was first called "apotemnophilia" in 1977. For a short time, it was termed Amputee Identity Disorder. Now it is called Body Integrity Identity Disorder.

During the Crusades, European Jews and Middle East Muslims were in effect on the same side. Jews didn't support the Crusades, which advocated violence against non-Christians. As a result, Jewish communities in Europe were targeted by crusaders.

Kim Cattrall once had a monkey steal her watch in Lamu, an island off the coast of Kenya. The monkey eventually gave it back.

In Dorset, England, there is a rock carving – known as the Cerne Abbas Giant – of a man with a 26-foot-long phalanx. It has been a fertility site for hundreds of years.
