About AIDS

Celebrate Father's Day and Benefit Kids with AIDS

Join some of Austin's finest performers as they honor fathers and daddies with respect, humor, and thoughtfulness. Folktales, family stories, monologues and selected readings explore and describe a variety of fathering experiences any Dad - or anyone who has had one - can identify with and enjoy.

All proceeds benefit the Uganda Children's Charity Fund, supporting AIDS-orphaned children in Uganda and increasing awareness of the incredible African orphan crisis.

The weekend of celebration will offer four programs:

•Celebrate Fathers, a storytelling concert for adults and older children (age 10 and up) with storyteller Carl Anderson, theatre artists Joy Cunningham and Robert Faires, and Austin American-Statesman editor Arnold Garcia. Saturday, June 17 at 8pm and Sunday, June 18 at 4pm Admission: $8 or seniors $6.

•Celebrate Daddies, stories and songs for families with children ages three to 10, with Carl Anderson, Kim Lehman, and Joe McDermott. Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2pm Admission: $5.

All performances will be at the Dougherty Arts Center, 1110 Barton

Springs Road. For reservations or information call 320-8536.
