Kate Wheeler, the author of When Mountains Walked (2000), and Not Where I Started From (1993), a short story collection, will be at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in Kyle on Monday, April 8 at 7:30pm. Wheeler's work has appeared in Best American Short Stories 1992, and she is a recipient of the Pushcart Prize and a two-time O. Henry Award winner. Brands' excellent biography of Benjamin Franklin, The First American, is now in paperback; he'll be at Barnes & Noble Arboretum on Thursday, April 11, at 7:30pm... The Michener Center's graduating students are going to show off all they've learned, also on April 11 at 7:30pm in the Avaya Auditorium on the UT campus, at the southeast corner of 24th and Speedway. The public is encouraged to attend.
