* FRI, OCT 27: Jonathan Kozol, author of Amazing Grace: The Lives of Children and the Conscience of a Nation, will be at Southwestern University campus in Georgetown for a lecture at the Alma Thomas Fine Arts Theatre. A 7pm booksigning follows... Pulitzer Prize-winning poet W.S. Merwin will read from his works at Jessen Audtorium, UT campus, 8pm. His most recent book is Travels.

* SAT, OCT 28: Jane Stott, who translated Claire Chevrillon's Code Name Christiane Clouet, will read at BookPeople, 2pm... Austin American-Statesman columnist Billy Porterfield will be at BookStop Central Park to sign the paperback release of his memoirs, Diddy Waw Diddy: Passage of an American Son, 2-4pm... Barnes & Noble presents a booksigning with Cactus Pryor for Playback, a collection of his best radio broadcasts from his 50-year career, 4-6pm... Austin SF writer Bruce Lanier Wright will celebrate the release of his timely, critical looks at horror films, Nightwalkers: Gothic Horror Movies at Adventures in Crime and Space, 5-7pm. A costume contest with prizes will also occur at that time.

* SUN, OCT 29: Cactus Pryor will be at BookPeople to read from Playback, 2pm. Also, Pryor will be honored by the University of Texas Press at UT's Alumni Center on Mon, Oct 30 with a program that include cocktails, dinner and show, and a silent auction but it ain't cheap.
