Since its founding in 1947 by Robert Capa, David "Chim" Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and William Vandivert, Magnum Photos has been the gold standard for photographic agencies, and now the University of Texas' Ransom Center will be home to more than 60 years' worth of original prints – almost 200,000 images! – from the cooperative's 90-plus member photographers. The Magnum Archive Collection was purchased last year by MSD Capital, the firm that manages the investments for Michael Dell and family, which agreed to an initial five-year arrangement with the Ransom Center to catalog and preserve the photographs. As part of the deal, the HRC will also show works from the collection in exhibitions and host visits by Magnum photographers. For more information, visit www.hrc.utexas.edu.
