Micael Priest, an artist whose work helped shape an era of Austin history, gets his due this week with a serious retrospective of his work at the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture. "Naked Under His Clothes" is extensive enough to cover work Priest created when he was 8 years old, as well as his influential work for the Armadillo, naturally, and drawings, photographs, poster art, and album cover art through to the present. The show opens Saturday, Sept. 23, 7:09pm, with music by the Love Vandals, and runs through Oct. 29. Priest gives a studio talk on Sunday, Oct. 15, and celebrates his 55th birthday on Saturday, Oct. 21. The museum is at 1516 S. Lamar. For more information, call 440-8318, or visit www.samopc.org.
Austin Cabaret Theatre, which opens its 2006-2007 season this week, is extending a generous offer to anyone holding tickets to cancelled shows at the flood-damaged State Theatre: Come to the cabaret for free!
