Eat Drink Man Woman, Thursday, Nov. 1
Taiwanese director Ang Lee's 1993 film features breathtaking food photography as it tells the story of a retired master chef and his three tempestuous daughters. Suzi's Chinese Grill and Chinatown will be on hand to provide steamed crab dumplings, jade prawns, braised short ribs with vegetables, stinky tofu, curried beef with rice, and spring rolls. Beer, wine, coffee, and tea will be available from the Alamo bar.
Chocolat, Friday, Nov. 2
This magical romantic yarn about a French village enchanted by a chocolatier will offer chocoholics an evening of pure bliss with an all-chocolate menu delivered by the expert confectioners at Dr. Chocolate and the dessert diva at Dolce Vita. Hot chocolate dusted with chile powder and biscotti, individual bags and boxes of custom chocolates, Gianduja bars, chocolate pinwheel cookies, and chocolate almond tortes with white chocolate gelato. Champagne, coffee, and milk can be ordered from the bar.
Soul Food, Saturday, Nov. 3
One of the characters in this family drama sums it all up by saying "Soul food cooking is about cooking from the heart. When we didn't have much, cooking was the way we showed our love for each other." Guests will love the meal from Hoover's Cooking and Gene's Po'Boys & Soul Food which includes green salad, fried chicken, smothered pork chops, green beans, black-eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and cornbread, sweet potato pie, and peach cobbler. Big Night, Sunday, Nov. 4
This popular mid-Nineties indie film is an Italian food lover's feast. As brothers Primo and Segundo create authentic Italian dishes for their "big night," movie patrons will dine on food from Asti Trattoria and La Traviata. The meal begins with an antipasto of crostini, cheeses, olives, breadsticks & focaccia served with a glass of Proseco Italian sparkling wine. Tricolor risotto, the dramatic pasta dome Timpano, and chicken with roasted vegetables will be served with a choice of red or white Italian wines. Dessert will be a fruit granita and amaretti. Coffee and tea will also be available from the bar.
Tortilla Soup, Monday, Nov. 5
This new film about a Mexican-American chef and his family is still pleasing crowds in area theatres, but this showing is the only one in town with food to match the beauty on the screen. Chefs from Manuel's and Curra's Grill will be on hand with pescado tikin xik, ensalada de nopales, pulpo veracruzano, tamales with poblano rajas, chicken gorditas, guacamole and chips, tortilla soup, pollo pibil with rice and beans, tortillas, capirotada, and Cajeta ice cream. A selection of Mexican beers and a festive Sangria will complement the meal. Beer, wine, tea, and coffee will be available from the bar.
