Tasty bites to savor at the Texas Book Festival

The cooking tent at this weekend's Texas Book Festival offers up an inviting menu of cooking demonstrations and panel discussions on a variety of timely culinary topics. Members of the Chronicle Food staff have checked out the food-related books selected for this showcase, and we've got several tasty bites to recommend. Author appearances are accurate at press time; double-check the schedule at www.texasbookfestival.org. Earlier in the year, I reviewed two of the food-related books that will be featured this weekend, and I'm looking forward to hearing what the authors have to say. See "Read to Eat," May 30, for rave reviews of Around the World in 80 Dinners: The Ultimate Culinary Adventure, by Cheryl and Bill Jamison, and Screen Doors and Sweet Tea: Recipes and Tales From a Southern Cook, by Martha Hall Foose.
