The greatest baseball team in the world – the Houston Astros – is bringing their traveling Caravan to Austin for three events on Wed., Jan. 10: A meet-and-greet at Pluckers (3:30pm, 3909 S. Lamar), an autograph session at Academy (5pm, 5400 Brodie), and the Caravan Jam at the Long Center (5pm, 701 W. Riverside).
For the first time since Houston's baseball franchise entered the big leagues in 1962, they have brought the World Series Trophy home to Houston – and will be bringing said trophy to Austin this Wednesday afternoon.
Astros players J.D. Davis, James Hoyt, and Brad Peacock and TV broadcaster Todd Kalas will be part of the Caravan hitting town to schmooze with fans, play trivia, and hand out some prizes at Pluckers from 3:30-4:30pm. (Not an autograph session.)
The main event follows from 5-6pm at the Sunset Valley Academy Sports + Outdoors. Autograph passes will be distributed two hours prior to the start of the event and are also valid for one World Series Trophy photo opp. One autograph pass per person and must be present to receive. Passes do not guarantee an autograph. Players will only sign the commemorative World Champion autograph card provided at each Academy location at the time of signing.
At the Caravan Jam from 5-7pm at the Long Center fans can enjoy live DJs, inflatables, food trucks, face painters, caricaturists, and more. Players will make a 30-minute appearance at the Caravan Jam and will participate in a Q&A and take on some fans in some fun interactive games. The World Series Trophy will arrive with the players during their 30-minute appearance. (Not an autograph session.)
