Austin Black Pride, the local org dedicated to celebrating the city’s Black queer community, has disolved effective May 4, according to an Instagram post from the group’s board.

In August 2019, Qmmunity writer Mac Irvine called then-nascent group Thee Gay Agenda “a three-ringed circus of sorts.” Speaking on the phone with TGA organizer Emmet Hunker, it seems that the same high-energy carnival chicanery courses through the show’s current incarnation.

This is not the first Haven Con. This is not even the first Haven Con article on the Chron website. But two years away has changed little about this irrepressible spot of queer fandom festivity in Texas.
